surgery to enhance your physical appearance, become a commonplace performed in
modern times. However, did you know that plastic surgery was originally only
for medical purposes, especially for those who experience severe accident. Some
of the first plastic surgery story has also been summarized. Here are some of
the first operations ever documented as quoted from Oddee:
1.
First facial plastic surgeon, William Yeo
After
the accident, Walter Yeo's face became very horrible and unrecognizable.
Shattered his upper face, including eyelids, nose, and forehead. In 1917, Yeo
was treated by Sir Harold Gillies, the first to use skin grafts from undamaged
areas of the body. Gillies then known as the 'Father of Plastic Surgery'. Through
a tube called a graft pedicel, Yeo became the first plastic surgery patients
have a new eyelid and nose were grafted onto his face.

Nose Surgery first, William M Spreckley
Note
plastic surgery pioneer Dr. Harold Gillies has also written about a soldier who
suffered a gunshot wound on his nose. The patient, who was 33 years of age were
treated in January 1917, mentioned obtaining plastic surgery to improve the
shape of his nose.

The first oral surgery, Willie Vicarage
Vicarage
is one of the first to receive construction radicals 'tubed pedicule' facial
reconstruction. Because at that time before modern antibiotics, it is very
difficult to move to other parts of the body tissues because of frequent
infections. When treating Vicarage, Dr Gillies found that using a tubed pedicle
skin folds forehead or chest and pull it to the face.

First breast surgery patients, Timmie Jean Lindsey
In
1962, a young housewife from Texas, Timmie Jean Lindsey was persuaded to become
guinea pigs new operation. She was the first woman who paved the way for
millions of other women to have firmer breasts. After having three children at
the age of 26 years, Timmie offered to refund the full breast shape. The
procedure was performed by Dr. Thomas Cronin in Ruma Jefferson Davis Hospital.
